Temple and is the holy shrine of Sikhs. The 'Hari Mandir' (another
name of Golden Temple), is a symbol of strength of Sikh community
all over the world. The two storeyed temple is a small structure
surrounded by Amrit Sarovar Lake with a golden dome. The temple is
reached after crossing Guru's bridge, constructed over the holy
lake.
This temple is a spiritual center and main pilgrimage place for the
Sikhs. Built by Arjan Dev, the 16th century temple is surrounded by
marvelous marble buildings. The soothing and calm environment all
around can make you feel relax and you will like to spend some time
at the sarovar.
The temple is not only famous for its golden dome but for the
people who come here, for the respect and affection for this holy
shrine and for the 24hour reading of original Guru Granth Sahib by
priests at the temple. People mesmerizing their prayers and
servicing for the temple with full dedication is very moving.
The temple has a unique blend of Hindu and Moslem architecture.
Hari Mandir sets richly ornamented with marble sculptures, golden
gilding, and large quantities of precious stones. The echo of the
enchanting music of the prayers at this temple provides spiritual
pleasure to all pilgrims.
There are several Gurudwaras that surround this temple with unique
dinning halls serving 24 hour free food to all, irrespective of
race, religion, or gender. It would be worthwhile visiting this
